[edit] Early life
As a teenager he attended King Edward VI Grammar School in Chelmsford before proceeding to study History at Pembroke College at Cambridge University, where he was a member of the Footlights, alongside his The Inbetweeners co-star Simon Bird.[2] After graduating, he briefly shared a flat with Bird and fellow Pembroke graduate Jonny Sweet.[3]
[edit] Career
Thomas appears in CBeebies TV show Numberjacks (in the episode "Round and Round") as a "man" attacked by "The Problem Blob". He is also a double act along with Jonny Sweet and they have performed their show, "The Jonny and Joe Show", at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.[4]
His big break in television was his role as Simon Cooper in The Inbetweeners and its feature film The Inbetweeners Movie. Together with Bird and their writing partner Jonny Sweet, they wrote "Chickens", an satirical sketch about three conscientious objectors during World War I, which was a part of a proposed series, Comedy Showcase.[3] It debuted in September 2011 and a full series was commissioned. Following this he starred in the student sit-com Fresh Meat.
[edit] Personal life
Thomas is in a relationship with Hannah Tointon who played his on-screen girlfriend on the sitcom The Inbetweeners.[5]
