John B. Atkinson is an English former Rugby League World Cup winning footballer of the 1960s, '70s and '80s, who at representative level played for Great Britain, and England, and at club level for Leeds, and Carlisle, playing at Left-Wing, i.e. number 5.
Atkinson played in four Rugby League World Cups (1968, 1970, 1972 and 1975), scoring six tries in total.
Atkinson began his competitive career for Leeds in 1966 and finally left to become player/coach of Carlisle in 1983 within these years he had amassed 401 competition tries.
John Atkinson's testimonial match at Leeds took place in 1976.
