Dr. John Converse (September 29, 1909 – January 1981) was an American plastic surgeon, born in San Francisco, California. He was the Chief Plastic Surgeon at the NYU Medical Center. He helped children with facial deformities. In 1958, actor Gary Cooper came to him for a plastic surgery operation. It was that day that he met Sandra Shaw, Cooper's wife. Cooper died in 1961, and John married Sandra (AKA: Veronica "Rocky" Balfe Cooper) in 1964. He wrote many textbooks, as well as took an interest in the field of philanthropy.
