American composer John Kenneth Graham (born July 26, 1955 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana), studied at Southeastern Louisiana University and Louisiana State University, writes orchestral tableaux of American legend and folklore. His primary emphasis is the symphony and sonata-allegro form, particularly development techniques and tonal expression. His First Symphony is programmatic, about northern Missouri during the spring; the Second Symphony is about southeast Iowa during the summer; and the Third Symphony concerns Yellowstone National Park during the fall. Other works include Festival Mass in C Minor for choir, pipe organ and chamber orchestra, First Piano Concerto, numerous works for percussion and several large works for symphonic band.
