The Ainsworth Award, which is given to recognize individuals, groups and organizations for their volunteer contributions of time and talent to the patients of M. D. Anderson Hospital, was originally established in 1975 as the Community Service Award.
In 1987, the award was renamed for Joseph T. Ainsworth, M.D.
