Juan Manuel Gómez Sánchez, aka Juanma (born 29 May 1981 in Don Benito, Badajoz), is a Spanish footballer who plays for Real Betis as a right midfielder.

[edit] Football career

During his early career, Juanma represented Málaga CF, playing with both its A and B sides. In 2004, he joined Levante UD, making his top flight debut on 26 September 2004, in a 3–4 loss at Real Zaragoza. He would finish the season with five league goals, but Levante would be relegated.

After a loan stint with Recreativo de Huelva, Juanma returned to the Valencia community outfit, in another season ending in relegation.

On 6 August 2008, he moved to Real Betis in a 4+1 deal, for a disclosed fee of 1.500.000, scoring his first goal for the Andalusia side in late October against CD Castellón, in a 2–0 Spanish Cup away triumph. During the league campaign, he scored twice in 27 games, against Valencia CF (2–3 away loss) and Getafe CF (2–2 home draw); for the third time in four years, he dropped down a division.
