[edit] Hurricane Gustav
On September 1, 2008, during height of Hurricane Gustav, the KFOL tower fell behind the studio while the station was on the air. At first, anchor Martin Folse, thought the tape library behind the station caused a loud crash, until a control room person informed him that the tower was no longer standing. The station continued to broadcast updates about Terrebonne Parish via the internet.
A temporary tower was erected, and cables systems picked up a direct feed of the station. It is unclear if the tower collapse also affected its Morgan City transmitter, KJUN.
[edit] Digital transition
After months of working on a brand new tower site on the east side of Houma, KFOL activated it's new digital tower operating at 15 kW. KJUN also activated their new tower operating at 300 watts at their current site. They remain on channels 30 and 7 respectively.
