[edit] History

It was launched on March 16, 1996 as KMNZ, an affiliate of InTV, a network airing paid programming. On August 31, 1998, KOPX became an affiliate of Pax (now Ion Television) and The Worship Network, a Christian television network.

From November 2002 to June 2005, NBC affiliate KFOR-TV (channel 4) rebroadcast its morning and 10 p.m. newscasts via tape delay on KOPX; the 6 a.m. hour of the morning newscast aired on a one-hour tape delay, while the 10 p.m. newscast aired on a half-hour delay, with the latter beginning shortly before the live 10 p.m. newscast on KFOR-TV ended.[1] This ended in 2005 due to two factors: the first being Pax's then-rebranding as i: Independent Television, and Pax's earlier decision to cut ties with its news share agreements with major network affiliates in the markets it had an affiliate, due to financial troubles.

The station's digital channel is multiplexed:

On June 12, 2009, KOPX has abandoned its former analog channel assignment of 62, and moved its digital signal to UHF channel 50. However, digital television receivers will continue to display KOPX's virtual channel as 62 using PSIP.
