KWBM is an affiliate of the Daystar Television Network in Springfield, Missouri. Its main transmitter, on channel 31, is licensed in Harrison, Arkansas and located northeast of Branson, Missouri. Formerly with repeaters, KBBL-CA channel 56, in Springfield (renamed on July 14, 2006), and on KNJE-LP Channel 58 in Aurora.
Coincidentally, KBBL is a radio station in the fictional town of Springfield in The Simpsons.
[edit] Digital television
When the analog KWBM signal ceased broadcasting on June 12, 2009, its digital transmitter was not ready to broadcast until nearly a month later, on July 3. The sign-off of KWBM's analog signal resulted in the station disappearing from Dish Network and DirecTV, due to the lack of unique local programming from the main Daystar national feed, and a revocation of the retransmission consent agreement after the sale from Equity to Daystar. Suddenlink and Charter continue to receive a direct link to the station, and Daystar is likely to maintain carriage of the station on those systems via must-carry.
KBBL-CA 56 and KNJE-LP 58, as low-power broadcasting stations, are not required to cease analog operation in 2009 but will need to move to different channels because UHF channels 52-69 were auctioned off by the FCC and will be no longer used for broadcast television. These stations were not sold with KWBM to Daystar and their fate at present is unknown.
