KXAP-LD is a Spanish-language television station serving Oklahoma's Green Country region and the Tulsa metropolitan area that is affiliated with Estrella TV. It broadcasts a low-powered standard-definition digital signal on UHF channel 51 from a transmitter located between South 103rd Avenue and the Mingo Valley Expressway/U.S. 169 in southeast Tulsa. Owned by Teletul Media Group, KXAP maintains studios located on East 2nd Street and Peoria Avenue (just off of Interstate 244) in downtown Tulsa. The station can also be seen on Cox Communications digital channel 444.
The original FCC application for the channel 51 license was filed on September 15, 1998 under the callsign K51FR; on July 5, 2000, the FCC granted an application to have the station's callsign changed to KOPE-LP.
On July 8, 2008, the station launched as a Spanish-language independent station under the callsign KXAP-LP, with half of its daily programming being locally-produced. The station also carried two local newscasts each weekday with an hour-long morning news program Buenos Dias Oklahoma and an hour-long newscast at 6 p.m. on weeknights. The station was originally scheduled to launch on July 4, 2008, but the launch was delayed due to technical issues.
