Kanie (蟹江町 Kanie-chō?) is a town in the southwest part of Aichi Prefecture, Japan. The town belongs to Ama District.

As of 2003, the town has an estimated population of 36,614 and a density of 3,298.56 persons per km². The total area is 11.10 km².

The Kanie, Nikkō, and Fukuta Rivers flow from north to south into Ise Bay. Kanie town borders Nagoya city, Tsushima city, Aisai city, Yatomi city, Shippo town and Tobishima village in Ama district.

The origin of the town's name comes from the once-plentiful crab ( kani?) population.[1]
