Serigne Modou Kara Mbodj (born 11 November 1989), commonly known as Kara or Kara Mbodj, is a Senegalese defensive midfielder who currently plays for Genk. He can be deployed as a defender, defensive midfielder or in the central midfield.

Club career[edit]

Kara joined the Diambars academy at 15 years old further to a Tournament. On 2nd of February, he joins Tromsø IL.During his three seasons in the Norwegian Championship, he is awarded best player of his team and twice second best player of the Championship.

On the 3rd of January 2013, he joins KRC Genk for 3 years. The transfer fees amounts to 2M€. One year after his arrival, he is a regular starter in defense. Winner of the 13’ Belgian Cup, he extends his contract with KRC Genk to June 2018.

Starting player in Senegalese Team, he participated into the London Olympic Games and qualification to the Africa Cup of Nations and World Cup.

He is regularly scouted by Premier League soccer teams, he is appreciated thanks to his physical approach and dominance in the air.
