Kara Osman was a 19th century Turkish oilwrestler. He was known to Turkish public as Filibeli Kara Osman after his birthplace Plovdiv. Osman and two other Turkish wrestlers, Nurullah Hasan and Youssuf Ishmaelo, were brought to the West in 1894 by French wrestler Joseph Doublier. A story that Doublier went to Turkey to find someone capable of defeating his "hated rival" Fernand Sabès, was circulated at the time.
