Qara Osman or Kara Osman or Qara Yoluq Osman or sometimes Uthman (Azerbaijani: Qara Yuluq Osman Bəy, Turkish: Kara Yülük Osman Bey) (mid to late 14th century to 1435, reigned 1378–1435) was a late 14th- and early 15th-century leader of the Turkmen tribal federation of Aq Qoyunlu in what is now Azerbaijan, Iraq, and Turkey. According to Byzantine and Aq Qoyunlu sources, he was the founder of his dynasty, married a Byzantine princess, as was custom, and gained control over Diyarbakır in 1402.[1]
