Karanodai is a northern suburb of Chennai, India located 7 km north of Redhills on GNT Road connecting chennai with Andhra Pradesh. It has three banks namely Canara Bank, Pallavan Grama Bank and Lakshmi Vilas bank. Karanodai has a long history which is the main transit point to chennai with the villages in north Tamil Nadu.[citation needed]The village is situated on the Kolkata National highway. The village is bounded on north side by Kosasthalaiyar River, also known as Kortalaiyar, is one of the three rivers that flow in the Chennai metropolitan area.
