Karbala Governorate ([كربلاء Karbalāʾ] Error: {{Lang-xx}}: text has italic markup (help)) is a province in Iraq. The capital is the city of Karbala, a holy city for Shi'ah Muslims; it houses the shrine of Imam Hussein (AS), a greatly revered figure in Shia Islam.
