Kasaï District

Kasai District is a district located in the Kasai-Occidental province, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is bordered by Lulua District to the southeast, Kwango District to the southwest, Sankuru District, Tshuapa District, Kwilu District, Mai-Ndombe District, and the nation of Angola in the south.

The capital of Kasai province is the town of Luebo.[1] The city of Tshikapa lies within the district, but is independently administered.

Under the 2006 constitution, Kasai District and the city of Tshikapa were to combine and become a new Kasai Province by 18 February 2009.[2] As of October 2010, this had not taken place.[3]
