Kate Elizabeth Voegele (born December 8, 1986) is an American singer-songwriter and actress. She is also known for a prominent role in CW TV series One Tree Hill.

Voegele was born in the Cleveland suburb of Bay Village, Ohio.[1] She is of European descent.[2] In 2005, Kate Voegele became the youngest winner in the history of the USA Songwriting Competition at the time [3] by winning the first prize of the Pop category of the 10th Annual USA Songwriting Competition with her song "Only Fooling Myself".[4] In 2007, Voegele released the first single from her debut album, Only Fooling Myself.[5] In 2008, Voegele began writing for a new album, and by the end of the year, she had signed a contract with Interscope Records.[6][7] She also recorded a cover of the song, "When You Wish Upon a Star", for the compilation album DisneyMania 6.[8] Voegele's second album, A Fine Mess was released on May 18, 2009.[9] and her third, Gravity Happens, was released on May 17, 2011.[10] Voegele opened for Natasha Bedingfield on her Less is More Tour at select concerts.[11]
As an actress, she appeared in One Tree Hill as Mia. She appeared in seasons 5,6,7 and season 8. The season 8 finale marked her final appearance on the show. Her character did not return to the series.[12]

Voegele was born in the Cleveland suburb of Bay Village, Ohio. Voegele attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio through spring of 2007 as a fine arts and psychology major, where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta, leaving to focus on a music career afterwards.[citation needed] Since the spring of 2008, Kate has been taking online classes to pursue a bachelor of science degree in Psychology at the University of Phoenix.[13] She is engaged to lacrosse player Brett Hughes.[14]
