"Keep Tryin'" is Utada Hikaru's 16th Japanese single and 22nd single overall, released on February 22, 2006. "Keep Tryin'" breaks the recent trend shown in "Be My Last" and "Passion", where the single is released in both CD+DVD and CD only formats. Keep Tryin' is Utada's first single since COLORS in 2003 to have a B-side, and the first since Dareka no Negai ga Kanau Koro in 2004 to have a karaoke backing track. "Keep Tryin'" was the first promotional song (January - April 2006) for Lismo! au Listen Mobile Service.

The song first aired on radio on January 30, 2006 and the music video was first broadcasted on February 15, 2006. The single reached #40 on the Global Track Chart during the 10th week of 2006. Despite low physical sales, "Keep Tryin'" has been a strong digital seller. Not only has spend the most weeks atop OnGen's digital charts, for a total of two and half months, but it also sold 2,500,000 downloads[1].

This single also marked the return of a karaoke track to Utada's singles. The last single with a karaoke track was 2004's Dareka no Negai ga Kanau Koro. CDJapan believes this new single is "...set to revolutionize the music industry" and that it was "...her best work to date".

[edit] Music Video

The promotional video for "Keep Tryin'" alludes to Utada's past PVs: "Final Distance", "traveling", and "Sakura Drops". There are also references to Utada's own cartoon cat creation, Chuichi, who is seen jumping on several rooftops while she is marching near the end of the video. During the biking sequence, there is a group of "people" marching along, similar to those in the traveling PV. When she stops by a store window filled with televisions, there is a kid pressed against the glass facing a reflection of himself, similar to Final Distance. Also, the two dresses from her Sakura Drops PV are on display in a store window.
