Khusro Bagh
Khusro Bagh (Hindi: ख़ुसरो बाग़, Urdu: خسرو باغ) is a large walled garden, close to the Allahabad Junction Station, in Allahabad, India, surrounding the tombs of Khusraw (died 1622), eldest son of emperor Jahangir, Shah Begum, Khusraw's mother (died 1604), a Rajput princess and Jahangir's first wife, and that Princess Sultan Nithar Begam (died c.1624), Khusraw's sister. [edit] The architecture
The three sandstone mausoleums within this walled garden, present an exquisite example of Mughal architecture. The design of its main entrance, the surrounding gardens, and the three-tier tomb of Sultan Begum, who died in 1604, has been attributed to Aqa Reza, Jahangir’s principal court artist.
The tomb of Khusrau, who was first imprisoned within the garden, after he rebelled against Jahangir, in 1606, and later killed in 1622 at the order of Prince Khurram, who was later known as Shah Jahan. His tomb was completed in 1622, while that Khusru's sister, Nithar Begam, which lies in the middle of the two, was made at her instructions, 1624-25, it however remained empty [1].
The garden has now lend its name to the surrounding locality of Khusrobagh, which is now bustling township.
