Kirsten Holmstedt

Kirsten Holmstedt is an author and journalist, who is considered an expert on women and the military. She received accolades for her first book, Band of Sisters: American Women at War in Iraq.

Early life[edit]

She was born and reared in the seaport town of Mystic, Connecticut.[1]

Education[edit]

She earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Drake University. In 2006, she earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in Creative Nonfiction Writing from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.[2]

Career[edit]

Besides two books on women and the military, she has written other articles on military issues. She is currently employed as a public information officer for Coastal Carolina Community College in Jacksonville, North Carolina.[3] [4]
