Kling Klang Klatch (1992) is a graphic novel written by Ian McDonald and illustrated by David Lyttleton. The narrator, a hard-bitten teddy bear detective named Marcus McBear, tries to solve the murder of a panda showgirl, a mystery which leads him into the corruption deeply rooted within Bear City's ruling class. The story's use of virtual reality and artificial intelligence, plus its focus upon the dystopian region of Pandatown, can qualify it as cyberpunk. On the other hand, McDonald's satirical and parodic use of cyberpunk motifs and the heavy dose of fantasy elements may qualify Kling Klang Klatch as an early example of postcyberpunk.
