Kotra is a town and a nagar panchayat in Jalaun district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

Kotra is located at 25°49′N 79°19′E / 25.82°N 79.32°E / 25.82; 79.32[1]. It has an average elevation of 136 metres (446 feet). Kotra is near Betwa River. Favourite sweet of Kotra is called "Palangtod". Today's population is more than 10,000, but lots of people are poor because they don't have work, so many people leave Kotra, and they are living in Gujrat, Bombay, Delhi, Kanpur, Orai, Jhansi. Only one roadways bus is there, which comes only once in a day, that goes to Orai.

As of 2001 India census[2], Kotra had a population of 8078. Males constitute 54% of the population and females 46%. Kotra has an average literacy rate of 56%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 68%, and female literacy is 43%. In Kotra, 16% of the population is under 6 years of age.
