The Krimulda Castle Ruins are located just outside Sigulda, Sigulda municipality, Latvia and is a tourist attraction. The castle dates from the 14th century and was destroyed in a war in 1601.[1]

The castle ruins stand near a dell of a small river, Vikmeste. The castle was built before 1312 and until 1566 it belonged to a Riga chapter of priests. The wide yard was encircled by 1.5 meter thick stone walls. The castle was destroyed during war between Poles and Swedes in 1601. Since 17th. century castle is in bad condition. Today you can actually see only some walls. The castle ruins are surrounded by forest. [2]
