La Paz is one of the seven districts of Iloilo City, in the Philippine, on the island of Panay, in Western Visayas.[1] It was formerly known as "Ilawod" or "sea/wet land" together with Jaro which was referred to as "Ilaya" or "mountain/dry land".[2]
Before it became a district of Iloilo City, La Paz was at different times a separate town and a part of Jaro City, now the district of Jaro.
Its name, which translates from Spanish as "peace", is from its patron saint, Nuestra Señora de la Paz y Buen Viaje in Spanish, or in English Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage.
La Paz Batchoy is dish named after the district
