Ladli Begum
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ladli Begum (born 1594) was the daughter of Nur Jahan (Mehrunnisa) and her first husband Sher Afghan, and was married to Mughal prince, Shahryar.
Ladli's father (Sher Afghan) was killed in 1607. Her mother later wed the Mughal Emperor Jehangir and took the name Nur Jahan. As the favourite wife of Jehangir, Nur Jahan used her great influence to arrange the marriage of Ladli with Shahryar, son of Jehangir by a different wife. Thus, Ladli came to wed her mother's stepson. It is said thar Nur Jahan (who was the de facto ruler during Jehangir's reign) used to support Shah Jahan as the successor to the throne due to his marriage to Mumtaz Mahal her niece started supporting Sharyar as the heir.[1]
She had a daughter from Shahryar, Arzani Begum [2].
