Lai Chi Kok Station is on the Tsuen Wan Line of the Hong Kong MTR system, between Cheung Sha Wan and Mei Foo. It was opened in 1982.
The station is in an orange-red livery, and is a simple through station with an island platform. Recently, platform screen doors have been installed along both platforms in this station.
The station is on the border of Lai Chi Kok and Cheung Sha Wan. People can use this station to access the southern part of Lai Chi Kok. Lai Chi Kok used to be an industrialized area, but in recent years, four high quality residential developments have been built, namely Banyan Gardens, liberté, The Pacifica and Aqua Marine. A pedestrian tunnel is under construction to connect these developments, which is scheduled to be completed by 2010.
On the other hand, more and more industrial buildings are being demolished and being rebuilt into a lot of brand new commercialbuildings, and the replacement of industrial units into office units within many industrial buildings, therefore this station has a high stream of people in business hours.
