Lajos Szűcs (born 10 December 1943) was a Hungarian football striker, who played for Dorog, Ferencváros, Budapest Honvéd FC and Vasas Izzó. He was Hungarian footballer of the year in 1976.
He won a gold medal in
football at the 1968 Summer Olympics and a silver medal in football at the 1972 Summer Olympics, and also participated in [1 ] UEFA Euro 1972 for the Hungary national football team. He was Hungarian footballer of the year in 1976.
He was born in
Apatin, nowadays [2 ] Serbia, during the period Hungary had occupied the region during World War II. He is married to [3 ] Ildikó Pécsi, one of Hungary's best known and most popular actresses who also served as a Socialist member of the Hungarian Parliament from 1994 to 1998.
