Lal Kamal Bhowmick (born 2 January 1987 in Kolkata) is an Indian footballer. He plays in the Center Midfield position but can play equally well as winger and is known for his work rate,explosive shooting and scoring from Direct free kicks. He represents Prayag United S.C. having spent four seasons at Mohun Bagan. He was voted the best young player of the Year for the 2007 I-League season for his excellent performances for Bagan.[1]

[edit] Club career
Bhowmick shot to prominence playing for Mohun Bagan. Bhowmick has been playing for them since 2005 and has been one of their most consistent performers ever since. He was part of the 2007 Federation cup & IFA Shield winning Mohun Bagan team and has taken part in the AFC Cup in 2007. He is also the Vice-Captain of the current Mohun Bagan team. He has always given a good account of himself against foreign teams like the reserve teams of European giants A.C. Milan [2] & Bayern Munich [3] as well as the first team of Bayern Munich. His most notable performances for his club have been against the reserve team of European giants A.C. Milan against whom he scored 2 goals, against Bayern Munich II (the reserve team of Bayern Munich) where he found the back of the net once, being Everready's only goal scorer in 5-1 defeat in the IFA Shield 2005 final, and became the Man of the Match in the final. Also against the Bayern Munich first team, he nearly scored, rattling the crossbar with a thunderous shot. He was praised for his performance against Bayern Munich in Oliver Kahn's Farewell Match by German legend Ottmar Hitzfeld then coach of Bayern Munich.[4] He was invited to train with the Bayern Munich reserve squad in 2006 by none other than the legendary Gerd Müller.

He was transferred to Prayag United S.C. during the winter transfer window of 2010. On January 30, 2011, Bhowmick scored his first goal for United in an I-League game against ONGC.

Bhowmick was part of the Indian U19 team that took part in the AFC Youth Championship 2006 where he scored once in the first match against Kyrgyzstan. He also gave a good account of himself in the remaining games. In addition to this, he took part in the 2006 AFC Challenge Cup for the India U19 Team. He was also called for India Seniors for the SAFF Championship.
