Lampa province is one of the constitutive provinces of Puno region in the Andean South American republic of Peru. It has an approximate population of 50,000. The capital is Lampa.[1]

Political division[edit]

The province has an area of 5,791.73 square kilometers (2,236.20 sq mi) and is split into ten districts.

Ethnic groups[edit]

The people in the province are mainly indigenous citizens of Quechua descent. Quechua is the language which the majority of the population (74.56%) learnt to speak in childhood, 24.84% of the residents started speaking using the Spanish language and 0.37% using Aymara (2007 Peru Census).[2]
