(Redirected from Langobardia (disambiguation))
The term Langobardia (also evidenced in the variant Longobardia and in the Germanic form Langbardland) can refer to:
- the two major regions of the Lombard Kingdom:
- the Langobardia Major, which included the Lombard duchies of northern Italy and Tuscia;
- the Langobardia Minor, which included the two duchies of central-southern Italy of Spoleto and Benevento (after the fall of the Lombard kingdom, in 774 the Langobardia Minor coincided with the area occupied by the Duchy of Benevento, later variously split);
- the Byzantine theme of Langobardia, that included the areas of Southern Italy not occupied by Lombards.
From "Langobardia (Maior)" is derived the name of the Italian region Lombardy.
