Laparoscopic anterior hernia repair is the method by which a hiatal hernia in patients undergoing bariatric surgery is repaired laparoscopically anteriorly and not posteriorly as in the fundoplication procedure. This procedure was introduced by Dr. Sami Salem Ahmad from Germany, and researches have shown that the procedure has significant efficiency[citation needed]. It is less invasive and takes less time.
