Larentina was a Roman goddess of death. She had her tongue torn out by Jupiter after she revealed one of his indiscretions, and was then called Muta, "the mute one" (see also Dea Tacita). She is also associated with Acca Larentia, Mania, and Lara or Larunda, Mother of the Lares.
