Laura Michaels (married name Kelly) was a fictional character in the television series NYPD Blue. She was portrayed by Sherry Stringfield in the first season. The character was an Assistant District Attorney who was estranged from her husband John. Although a major character at the beginning of the series she was given less and less screen time as the season progressed and did not appear in any episodes after her final series appearance in "Zeppo Marks Brothers". Her absence was never explained when the second season opened. In the book "True Blue", David Milch said that scenes planned for Michaels and Kelly were superseded by the romantic storyline involving Andy Sipowicz and Sylvia Costas.
