The Left Behind film series is a series of films based on the Left Behind best-selling book series by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins. They were produced by Cloud Ten Pictures, and directed by Vic Sarin (Left Behind: The Movie), Bill Corcoran (Left Behind II: Tribulation Force), and Craig R. Baxley (Left Behind: World at War). Kirk Cameron stars as Buck Williams, along with Brad Johnson, Janaya Stephens, Clarence Gilyard, Jr., Gordon Currie, Chelsea Noble, Colin Fox, and Academy Award winner Louis Gossett, Jr..
At the time of its initial release, Left Behind: The Movie was declared as the most expensive Christian film ever made. It received mostly negative reviews from critics and had a very mediocre box office run. All three films were criticized for straying from the plot of the books they were based on, and also for their low-budgets. A big-budget theatrical remake of the first film is currently in production. Nicolas Cage, Chad Michael Murray, and Ashley Tisdale are set to star. The film is planned for release in spring 2014.

On August 7, 2008, Cloud Ten Pictures announced that it had entered into a settlement agreement resolving the two lawsuits against it and Namesake Entertainment, which co-produced the films. The suit was filed by Tim LaHaye. The settlement ended a legal dispute over the Left Behind film rights that began in 2000.
Cloud Ten Pictures has announced that they are remaking the Left Behind film series. According to the article on the Cloud Ten Pictures official site, "Cloud Ten Pictures plans on producing a big-budget, wide theatrical release based on the ground-breaking original LEFT BEHIND novel".
According to the Cloud Ten Pictures website, the Left Behind remake is currently in production, and is set to star Nicolas Cage, Chad Michael Murray, Lea Thompson and Ashley Tisdale. Vic Armstrong will direct the film. The budget is estimated at $17 to 20 million, with principal photography set to begin sometime in August 2013 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The film is expected to be released sometime in spring 2014. Daniel Craig was rumored to play Nicholae Carpathia, but this has since been confirmed to be false. Murray confirmed his involvement with the film via Twitter. Ashley Tisdale confirmed involvement in an interview with MTV news. Martin Klebba has also been rumored to have a part in the film. The parts of Tia Mowry and Georgina Rawlings are unknown, but Lalonde has reported that the former is playing an entirely new character, a passenger on Rayford's flight at the time of the Rapture. Rawlings was confirmed on July 25, 2013. On August 1, it was announced that William Ragsdale will play Rayford's co-pilot, Chris Smith.
