The Left Behind film series is a series of films based on the Left Behind best-selling book series by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins. They were produced by Cloud Ten Pictures, and directed by Vic Sarin (Left Behind: The Movie), Bill Corcoran (Left Behind II: Tribulation Force), and Craig R. Baxley (Left Behind: World at War). Kirk Cameron stars as Cameron "Buck" Williams, the lead character in all three films (but not in the books), along with Brad Johnson, Janaya Stephens, Clarence Gilyard, Jr., Gordon Currie, Chelsea Noble, Colin Fox, and Academy Award winner Louis Gossett, Jr., who all make appearances throughout the series.
At the time it was first released, Left Behind: The Movie was declared as the biggest, most expensive and most ambitious Christian film ever made, though it still received mostly negative reviews from critics and had a very mediocre box office performance. All three films were criticised for straying far from the plot of the books they were based on, and also for being produced on exceedingly low-budgets. According to an article on the Cloud Ten Pictures official site, a big-budget theatrical remake of the series is currently in development, with production of the first film to begin in late 2011. [1]

[edit] Future
On August 7, 2008, Cloud Ten Pictures announced that it had entered into a settlement agreement resolving the two lawsuits against it and Namesake Entertainment, which co-produced the films. The suit was filed by Tim LaHaye. The settlement ended a legal dispute over the Left Behind film rights that began in 2000.[2]
Cloud Ten Pictures has announced that they are remaking the Left Behind film series. According to the article on the Cloud Ten Pictures official site, "Cloud Ten Pictures plans on producing a big-budget, wide theatrical release based on the ground-breaking original LEFT BEHIND novel". [3]
