Legal periodicals are trade publications for the legal profession targeted at lawyers, paralegals, judges, and government civil servants. They contain commentary on current and proposed legislation as well as on recent court decisions and administrative rulings. They can also contain scholarly research articles, book reviews, surveys, and industry news. Legal periodicals may be published by law schools (and their affiliated student organizations), bar associations or commercial publishers. Scholarly journals in this field are known as law reviews.
