(莉) is an Ancient Chinese surname, among the Hui people of Yunnan Province.[1] However the Baijiaxing (百家姓) does not have the surname "莉" as it is not an ethnic Han Chinese family.

Origin[edit]

From the 25th century BCE, the Hui people lived in the area of present-day Xinjiang, China. They were a mixed people including many speaking Indo-European languages (Persian, Sogdian, etc.) in the Qin and Han Dynasty. Many of these people adopted a Chinese Han script surname Li (莉) alongside their other names.
