Their marching uniforms are modeled after the [[Coldstream Guards]], a regiment of the British Army. Today the band has collected over 50 real bear skin hats. The Liberty High School Grenadier Band is the only band in the world that can wear these authentic uniform parts because the band has special permission from the Coldstream Guard to model after them. Along with the main band, the Grenadiers also have a smaller elite band known as First Company. The First Company does extra performances that are too big for the whole band to do. Most recently some First Company members went to Canada for a week to participate in the Fortissimo show. As an auxiliary the band also has bagpipers who play at funerals across Bethlehem.

History

Liberty High School was built in 1918 and opened in 1922.[1] It is located in the geographical center of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Originally, Liberty was called Bethlehem High School. The name was changed after rival Freedom High School was built. The school was named Liberty after the Liberty ships that returned to Pennsylvania after World War I. Up until Liberty's recent remodel, the school was composed of three classroom buildings, two buildings with four floors and one science center with two. Also, there were many additions added over the years including a pool and two gyms.

Student government

The Student Government is made up of the Senate (consisting of eight senate seats per grade level) and five Senate Officers; President, Vice President, Recording Secretary, Activities Secretary, and Treasurer. Each Grade also has four class officers; President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Student Government is the sole place where the Student Body can put their input and ideas on how they want their school year to go. The 2008 - 2009 Student Government created history by creating a new Student Government Constitution that gives the Student Body a voice in every decision that is made.

Alma mater

Liberty High School, along with most High Schools, has a sacred Alma, sang in 4 part Harmony, and played by the Grenadier Band.

Verse 1: Hail to Alma Mater dear, where we've spent our high school years. Now to Liberty we raise, Voices to extol thy praise. In thy stately halls we've spent, hours with hearts and minds content. Now to thee, dear Liberty High, In our loyalty we cry;

Chorus: Liberty High School hail to Loyal sons and daughters we In the future, as the past We'll be loyal to the last load

Verse 2: Hail to dear ole' Red and Blue, to thy colors we'll be true. As the star of Bethlehem shone, so our love for thee has grown. In the world where ere we are, nothing shall thy honor mar. Though the future years past by, this shall always be our cry;

Chorus: Liberty High School hail to thee Loyal sons and daughters we In the future, as the past We'll be loyal to the last
