Lifetime Real Women is a digital cable channel that is the sister network to Lifetime. It was launched in August 2001 and is available in over 10 million homes via digital cable. The network has a mixture of comedies, dramas, how-to, game shows, movies and real life stories that had once aired on Lifetime.
Lifetime Real Women currently does not produce any original programming, relying entirely on imported series (such as Gizzi Erskine's "Cook Yourself Thin" series from the UK or Style By Jury from Canada) or reruns of previous Lifetime series. The station's current emphasis is on reality television.
Programming aired on Lifetime Real Women as of 2010 includes Operation: Style, Any Day Now, Intimate Portrait, Final Justice, Next Door With Katie Brown, Head 2 Toe, How Clean Is Your House?, Merge, What Should You Do?, Who Knows You Best, Gay, Straight or Taken?, The Main Ingredient with Bobby Flay and Project Runway. The channel does not currently air movies.
Although offered originally on DirecTV, the company dropped it in July 2007. It is not available via satellite and is available on a limited number of cable systems.
On August 27, 2009, A&E Television Networks acquired Lifetime Entertainment Services.[1][2]
