Lightstreamer is a scalable and reliable[peacock term] Server for pushing live data to Rich Internet Applications

Based on the Comet paradigm, it streams real-time data to any Web browser, without installing anything on the client. Clients and applications can receive live data from Lightstreamer.

Clients: HTML, AJAX, Flex, AIR, Silverlight. Applications: Java, .NET, iPhone.

Lightstreamer has been used in many mission-critical[peacock term] production systems, where scalability, low network impact, bandwidth management, adaptive streaming, and other advanced features, have proven fundamental[peacock term].

Four different Editions of Lightstreamer are available, One free of charge: Moderato and three commercial products: Allegro, Presto, and Vivace. All the software distributions include the Lightstreamer Server and the SDKs (Software Development Kits) needed to develop custom Lightstreamer Adapters and Lightstreamer Clients.

Weswit Srl, usually referred to as Lightstreamer, is an Italian company, primarily known for its Lightstreamer suite of software products.

Lightstreamer was originally developed by the financial systems integration activity of privately held Par-Tec group (founded in 1998). Weswit Srl was subsequently created as an Independent Software Vendor within the group to provide Lightstreamer 'Push' middleware solutions for streaming real-time market data, or any live information to both web browsers and thick clients.

Lightstreamer is a member of the OpenAjax Alliance.
