Lincoln Middle School, located in Santa Monica, California, currently serves around 1150-1200 students in grades sixth through eighth with 3 administrators, tens of certificated teachers and twenty-five classified staff members. Most of the students come from three feeder schools in the area (Franklin Elementary, Roosevelt Elementary, and McKinley Elementary). Every grade is assigned a counselor, who helps them throughout their three years at Lincoln with everyday problems. Each grade level is split into divided groups called cores. In the 2010-2011 school year, the core system was changed. The cores received new names as follows: Diamond core (6th), Ruby core (6th), Quartz core (7th), Sapphire core (7th), Jade core (8th), and Onyx core (8th). Lincoln Middle School is considered one of the most prestige schools throughout the nation. The school has been awarded as a California Distinguished School (1994 and 1999), National Blue Ribbon School (2000) and Disney Spotlight School (2001). The current principal is Suzanne Webb and the assistant principals are Marvin Lawton and Miguel Marco.
