Linda Salzman Sagan (born July 16, 1940) is an artist and writer, famed for creating the artwork for the plaque on the Pioneer spacecraft [1] and for coproducing the Voyager Golden Record.[2] She co-authored the book Murmurs of Earth with her ex-husband, astronomer Carl Sagan, whom she married on April 6, 1968; the marriage lasted until their divorce in 1981.[3] She is also known for directing a number of plays for the Central Casting Theater in Ithaca, New York and for writing episodes of television shows such as Knots Landing and General Hospital.[citation needed] Sagan was born in the Beth Israel Hospital in NYC and grew up in the Bronx, New York.[citation needed]
Ms. Salzman Sagan is the mother of author and screenwriter Nick Sagan.[2]
