Lingvo is a multi-platform dictionary software for desktop PCs and mobile devices, which provides translations of words and phrases for a number of European and Asian languages, accompanied with transcription, pronunciation, word usage examples and inflected forms list. It is a product of ABBYY, international software company with headquarters in Russian Federation. Since 2007, printed dictionaries have been published by a publishing company ABBYY Press.

Lingvo is the most widely used dictionary software in Russia with estimated number of users exceeding 5 000 000 people.

"Llingvo" means "language" in Esperanto.

The program comes with a flash-card utility for word drill, Lingvo Tutor. Users can use the basic thematic dictionaries included in the program and also create their own dictionaries. Mobile version is available for Windows Mobile portable devices.

Pop-up translation option of Lingvo 12 didn′t work with popular web browsers Mozilla Firefox 3 and Opera 9.5 until the new Lingvo x3 was released.[1]

Lingvo Online is a free online Russian-to 5 other languages dictionary combined with human translation service. This web service includes 38 different authoritative dictionaries. Lingvo Online is provided by ABBYY on the base of its ABBYY Lingvo dictionary software. The service was launched internationally in October 2007.
