Lisa Burke (born 4 February 1977) is an Irish weather forecaster.

Burke was born and lived in Killeshin, near the town of Carlow in County Carlow, Ireland and attended school there before moving to London with her family in 1987.[1] Her father is Tony Burke, a former goalkeeper for Laois.[1] She graduated with a first class Masters Degree (MSci) in Natural Sciences from Cambridge University in 1999 and was ranked second in the university.[2] She gave up the opportunity to start a Ph. D in October 2000, aged 23, to work at Sky News.[2]

Burke joined Sky News in October 2000. Alongside weather forecasting, Lisa has presented Technofile and SkyNews.com.[citation needed] In 2007 she spent most of the year working as the first science reporter for Sky News, reporting live from Iceland on one assignment.[citation needed]

Lisa appeared on the RTE reality television show The Restaurant in 2008.[3] She also cooked on Ready Steady Cook.[citation needed] Lisa presented a documentary for Sky One called Inside A Lightning Bolt.[citation needed] She appeared on The Big Breakfast early in her career after being voted 'sexiest weathergirl'.[citation needed]

In October 2004 Burke married Adrian Wells, Head of Foreign News for Sky in the Holy Cross Abbey, in Holycross near Thurles, County Tipperary. Jeremy Vine was the Best man.[1][2] In August 2006 gave birth to a daughter.[citation needed] She had a second daughter in February 2009.[citation needed]

Burke's father was Pipe Major of the Killeshin Pipe Band.[1] The eldest of three siblings, she stills performs with her younger sister Dr Toni Burke on occasions, as well as with the BBC Symphony Chorus in the Proms at the Royal Albert Hall and at The Barbican.[citation needed]
She plays piano, violin, tin whistle and piano accordion.[citation needed]
Burke sang with Cambridge University Choir while she was studying at the University.[citation needed]

In October 2001 Lisa was voted 'sexiest weather girl of all time' by a Powergen poll of 1000 men - beating Ulrika Jonsson and Denise Van Outen.[4]
