The following is a list of the 15 most populous metropolitan areas in Peru. Note that the populations of metropolitan areas are not city populations but rather a combination of a main large city and many other smaller satellite cities.

  • At year 2011 Lima metropolitan area is formed by 43 urban districts of Lima Province and 6 districts of Callao Province, making a total of 49 districts.
  • At year 2011 Arequipa metropolitan area according to document called '"PLAN DIRECTOR DE AREQUIPA 2002–2015" is formed by 19 districts which are : Arequipa, Alto Selva alegre, Cayma, Cerro colorado, Jacobo hunter, José Luís Bustamante y Rivero, Mariano Melgar, Miraflores, Paucarpata, Sabandia, Sachaca, Socabaya, Tiabaya Yanahuara, Characato, Uchumayo and Yura
  • At year 2011 Trujillo metropolitan area is formed by 9 urban districts which are : Trujillo, La Esperanza, El Porvenir, Víctor Larco, Florencia de Mora, Huanchaco, Moche, Salaverry and Laredo
  • At year 2011 Chiclayo metropolitan area according to document “Modernización De La Gestión Del Desarrollo Urbano De La Provincia De Chiclayo” is formed by 12 urban districts which are : Chiclayo, Eten, Leonardo Ortiz, La Victoria, Monsefú, Pimentel, Pomalca, Puerto Eten, Reque, Santa Rosa, Lambayeque y San José.
