List of Brazilian states by population density

Population density is a ratio of the average number of inhabitants per square kilometre. It is worked out by simply dividing the population by the area of the state. Brazil has an overall population density of 20.5 inhabitants per square kilometer. The figures in the table are based on 2000 census data and the figures in the map are based on 2010 census data.
