Notable newcomers to the House of Commons included Alan Johnson, Oliver Letwin, Hazel Blears, Charles Clarke, Yvette Cooper, Ruth Kelly, Jacqui Smith, Damian Green, Theresa May, Vince Cable, Martin McGuinness (although he did not take his seat), Martin Bell and John Bercow.
