List of Max and Ruby episodes

The following is an episode list for the children's television series, Max and Ruby, based on the books by Rosemary Wells. This animated television series was first broadcast in 2002. Each episode was composed of three vignettes.

Max is still hungry after his lunch is all over him instead of in him, and Ruby decides to give him a bath, but unfortunately, he uses sherbet tubs and a grape juice glass as a boat, and that manages to get him dirtier than before, so Ruby gives him a shower. After his shower, he points out that Ruby's clothes have been stained, meaning she needs to wash now.

Max can't sleep until he finds his red rubber elephant. Later, he spies it must have been under his bed the whole time. NOTE: At the end, Max says "Good Night, Ruby." This is one of two instances that Max speaks a full sentence.

Ruby tries to teach Max to play Hide-and-Seek, but when they play, Max is too little to understand the rules and he does not want to give Ruby a turn to hide. When Ruby unsuccessfully tries to explain to him that it is her turn to hide since Max already had a turn, Max takes his chances to hide when Ruby isn't looking.

Max isn't eager he'll like his breakfast: a sunny-side-up egg and wants strawberries instead. When Ruby is distracted Max tries attempts to hide his egg.

Louise has a secret for Ruby when both are on the telephone, but Max keeps interrupting Ruby with his loud toys despite Ruby's pleas to play with quieter toys. But when Ruby gives up and goes to listen to Louise's secret on her upstairs phone, Max finds out the secret.

Ruby and Max are going to play at Louise's house, but Max wants to stay home, so they keep missing the buses to the house (even Max spies some of them, but of course says nothing). After the last bus is missed, Louise decides to come over to play at Max and Ruby's house.

Ruby wants to plant marigolds in a garden but its the same place Max has chosen to make a "worm cake", a mud-pie consisting of soaked soil, stones, and worms. He uses all her marigold-planting materials in his worm cake, but then he gives the worm cake back to Ruby, where it's used for a good cause.

Max wants to play but its raining and Ruby tries to place their rainy clothes on but at the end it stops raining, but Max makes the raincoats to good use with a garden hose.

Max and Ruby are having a camp out but Max wants to sleep outside instead of the tent. When Max stuffs all his toys in the tent, He and Ruby are forced to sleep outside, much to his delight.

Ruby and Louise build a clubhouse, but Max thinks he can sneak in just because Ruby and Louise are not in the clubhouse. Later, Ruby builds Max his own clubhouse. NOTE: This is one of few instances that Ruby's passion is used against her rather than dovetailing with Max's.

Ruby has brought a life-like toy, but when she wants to show Max what happens when you want to feed the toy, she presses the wrong button and that wakes up Baby Huffington, so Max tells the toy to be quiet.

Ruby and Louise are making a Queen of Egypt tiara but Max wants to look in Ruby's jewelry box and Ruby doesn't want him in her room so she makes a Keep Out sign that says "No! This Means You!". However, Max uses the sign to his advantage when Max is asked what the sign says and what it means.

Max wants to make an Earthworm cake for Grandma's Birthday but Ruby wants to make an Angel Surprise Cake with Raspberry fluff icing. Max wants to help but instead knocks the ingredients over and when he goes to the market many times he wants "Red Hot Marshmallow Squirters" but Mr. Piazza doesn't understand his drawings until Max draws a perfect picture of the Marshmallow Chunks and Grandma turns out to Max's Cake for her birthday! NOTE: Max does not talk in this episode. NOTE: This is the first time where both Max and Ruby triumphs.

Ruby and Max are setting up Grandma's birthday party. Ruby's guestlist includes her "Curly Shirley", "Rapunzel" "Mrs. Quack" and "Mr. Quack" but Max believes that Ruby should invite his toy friends as well. Ruby refuses and so Max replaces her guests by disguising his toys as Ruby's.

Ruby wants to buy a birthday present for Grandma, but she is disappointed when their dream gift costs $100. They do not have much money and Max keeps wasting it for his problems, including one problem where he tries to buy a present for Grandma too, but instead gets his clothes dirty. At the end Max buys Glow-In-The-Dark vampire teeth for Grandma while Ruby buys singing bluebird earrings.

After a birthday party for Max, Max forgets to open one of his birthday presents. He is excited until he opens the present, to find a huge wind-up lobster that keeps chasing him. And at the same time, Max is more interested in playing with his toy wind-up chickens he received than the lobster. The lobster keeps bothering Max, sooner or later Ruby catches it and when she tries to put it back in the box Max says "No!" and he winds it up again.

Ruby invites Max to her Bunny Scout party. At first Max declines when Ruby wants him to wear his new suit, but eventually Max decides to dress up, but he puts the suit on improperly.

Max keeps waking up at night because he wants different pajamas than he has. He keeps staining the ones Ruby makes him wear until he eventually gets the pajamas he wants. Ruby then gives him her Walkie-Talkie Bear to sleep with.

Ruby is excited for Santa Clause on Christmas eve but Max asks questions like "Who?" "When?" "Why". (But mostly: "WHY") That night Max wants to see Santa, but Ruby won't let him stay up. Max still believes that he should see Santa and goes downstairs. Ruby notices him out of bed and shoos him back to his room. Max then secretly goes back downstairs and after falling asleep he wakes up to find Santa Claus coming with their gifts. After asking Santa many questions Santa Claus leaves their gifts with Max and disappears. The next day Ruby is shocked to see that Max wasn't in his bed and was sleeping downstairs. She doesn't see the gifts, but Max reveals them to Ruby under his blankets and the episode ends with Max saying "Because."

Max wants to play with his Christmas gift; A screaming green alien gorilla. Ruby tells him to help her with her snowqueen that she is building for Grandma to see. Max still wants to play with the gorilla. When they are done Max goes to play with his Gorilla, but it has mysteriously vanished with only its remote-control left. Max follows the cord of it until he discovers that the gorilla was in the snowqueen which they had run over when they were making a snowball for the Snowqueen.

Max, Ruby, and Louise are going sledding! Max wants to go down the big hill called Rocket Run with his Christmas gift: A speed Sled but Ruby says no. She tells Max to go down Bunny Hill, (Which hardly is a hill) but Max doesn't think it's fast enough. While Ruby and Louise watch everybody else go down the hill Max takes their toboggan (Louise says the hill only allows toboggans.) and goes Down Rocket Run. Ruby and Louise follow Max in his sled where they find Max stuck in a pile of Snow. Max says at the end "Faster."

Max wants to eat a chocolate chicken an Easter bunny left on a birdbath. Ruby tells Max they have to go on an egg hunt first. Max tries looking for eggs but he only finds ants and acorns while Ruby finds all some eggs. When Max plays with the ants and acorns, Ruby wins the egg hunt, so while Ruby counts her eggs, Max steals the chocolate chicken and hides in the shed. Ruby comes looking for Max, and she offers to share the chicken. But Max ate the chicken and comes out of the shed. Ruby is exasperated until the bunny gives her a chocolate duck.

Max meets a frog and they seem to make friends with each other, but Max and Ruby have to leave for a tea party they're having with Grandma. Max wants to add bugs to Grandma's gelatin salad she makes for a tea party they are having with Mrs Huffington, Rosalinda and Candi, but Ruby says no. Max finds candy bugs and places them in the salad when Ruby and Grandma are not looking. When the tea party happens, Ruby is given full credit for making the salad (who had virtually nothing to do with making it) but Ruby is shocked when she sees the candy bugs in the salad.

Ruby and Louise want to have a beach party in Max and Ruby's sandbox while they wait for their swimming pool to warm up, only for Max and Morris to choose the same place to play Dump-truck.

Ruby and Louise want to play three-ring-circus in the yard using their dolls and in order to do so they need Max's Red Rubber Elephant to be in the circus with their favorite doll; "The Enchanting Emily". Max and Ruby go to the big department store to buy Max new overalls, to replace his old ones, but Max only has the desire to get a green dragon shirt instead. While Ruby is distracted by pretty dresses, Max goes after any dragon shirt he can see and eventually gets separated from Ruby. Ruby finds him and gets ready to buy the overalls until Max sneaks away with the shirt to an ice cream parlor and drips ice cream all over the shirt leading Ruby to have no choice but to buy it, much to her horror.

Max plays with his Rabbit Racer while Ruby and Louise try to learn Baton-Twirling with Mrs. Huffington. While Mrs. Huffington goes to make lemonade, Max's Rabbit Racers cars interrupt Ruby and Louise's practice. Ruby tells Max he shouldn't play with the cars again that day, but Max has the opposite idea.

Ruby and Louise want to play with Ruby's best male friend Roger Piazza but Max wants Roger to play cars with him. Ruby says no assuming that Roger won't want to play cars anymore since that Roger is 7½ years old. But at the end Roger isn't happy to play any of Ruby and Louise's games but he is delighted to play cars with Max.

Ruby reminds Max to warn the guests about Louise approaching her surprise party, but Max keeps informing them at the wrong time. Eventually, Max informs them correctly, but Ruby thinks he is wrong until Louise does enter.

Ruby and Valerie want to make a tent to camp with for the night, but Max wants to play Super Bunny and keeps Ruby and Valerie from working.

Ruby and Louise want to earn their hospitality badge by hosting a Bunny Scout meeting, but Max and Morris both want to play with their dominoes. Later Max and Morris use their toys as dominoes which makes a terrific welcome for the Bunny scouts.

Max and Ruby go inside Grandma's attic. Max wants to know what's in the treasure box, but Ruby won't let him because she misinterprets Grandma's sayings of nobody being in the box for years, to be that nobody is allowed to look in it. Later Max finds the key to the treasure box in a shoe and Grandma lets them see inside which is a memory picture of Grandma and her husband going to a festival.

At Thanksgiving, Ruby makes Thanksgiving decorations, but Max just wants to sample Grandma's famous stuffing. When Ruby is done with the decorations she finds that Max has ate all the stuffing and is too full to have Thanksgiving dinner.
