[edit] Notes

Colleges of the University of London (which has a total of 128,480 students in the colleges and institutes listed by HESA) and the University of Wales (which has a total of 93,150 students at its nine accredited institutions, and another 30,010 at the affiliated Cardiff University) are listed as individual institutions in this table, but would be the second and third most populous universities if all their colleges were counted together. The names of some institutions have changed since these figures were released, and titles have been updated to conform with current usage, except in the case of merged institutions where colleges have combined together and consequently have different student numbers.
