[edit] Trivia
- Between the births of John Adams in 1735 and Al Gore, Jr. in 1948, a Vice President has been born in every decade except the 1760s, 1890s, and 1930s.
- Four pairs of Vice-Presidents have been born in the same years, who were:
- John C. Calhoun and Martin Van Buren were both born in 1782.
- William A. Wheeler and Thomas A. Hendricks were both born in 1819.
- Nelson Rockefeller and Lyndon B. Johnson were both born in 1908.
- Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford were both born in 1913.
All three pairs except the first pair were indirect predecessor-indirect successor pairs. Martin van Buren directly succeeded John C. Calhoun, when he took the office.
- Only one date, August 27, has the birthday of more than one Vice President (Dawes, Hamlin & L. Johnson). They were born in 1865, 1809 and 1908, respectively.
- Walter Mondale (born January 5, 1928) is the Vice President born earliest in the calendar year. Andrew Johnson (born December 29, 1808) is the Vice President born latest in the calendar year.
- There are no Vice Presidents born on the first day of a month. Two Vice Presidents were born on the last day of a month: Al Gore (born March 31, 1948) and William A. Wheeler (born June 30, 1819).
- The day of the month with the most vice-presidential births - five - is the 27th. The day of a month with the next largest amount after this - four - is the 7th.
- No Vice President has been born on the 1st, 2nd, 15th, 19th or 28th day of a month.
- The month with the most vice-presidential birthdays - seven - is October. The month with the fewest vice-presidential birthdays is September, with Thomas A. Hendricks being the only vice president born in that month. Also, although August 27 is the only vice-presidential birthday in August, there were three Vice Presidents born on that day (as mentioned above).
- Gerald Ford and Nelson Rockefeller are the only Vice Presidents who were never Elected. Ford got nominated when there was a vacancy after the resignation of Spiro Agnew and Rockefeller became President in the vacancy when Ford succeeded Richard Nixon, who was as old as him, to the Presidency.
- Every single month has had at least one Vice President born in it since John Nance Garner (born November 22, 1868) assumed the Vice Presidency in 1933.
- 14 Vice Presidents who later Became President
- 5 By Election
Of the Presidents listed above, Richard Nixon is the only one to become President but not immediately after the President that he had served under as Vice President., though he initially ran (and lost to) John F. Kennedy in the 1960 Presidential Elections. He eventually became the 37th President succeeding Lyndon B. Johnson
